Bournemouth Seahawks Basketball Program

Established in September 2012, the Bournemouth Collegiate School Basketball Academy ran for 11 years, until the club, through its past successes and future dreams, outgrew the size of the school.  The Seahawks then expanded to allow all school aged pupils from the Christchurch & Bournemouth area to attend the program.

BCS will always remain the home of the Seahawks, and we will continue our strong relationship with the school, finding basketball talent within our curriculum lessons, and recruiting players; but we look forward to the expansion of the club and the future.

We strive to deliver a programme which promotes, enhances and nurtures basketball excellence, whilst also developing young adults in a social, team environment. Taught and mentored by our coaching staff, players learn the fundamentals of basketball, from their first layups at a young age, to full tactical decision making in game situations. We obviously work closely with players in sessions, but can also give guidance for skills, drills, gym workouts and sessions to take away and work on at home or the local court.

With influences on team work, solidarity and working together, we have found our players are proud to the wear the Seahawks jersey.

We have 4 age catagories, U12, U14, U16 and U18 [School Years 6 - 13] and accept both male and female athletes, and compete in the Dorset Basketball Association (DBA) Junior Leagues and Local friendly matches.  We then can also accept 6th form and College graduates, as U19 players for our "Senior" program which pushes our most able players to compete at the Men's level in DBA League.

Our programs are often full or oversubscribed, capped at around 20 players in junior sessions and 15 in senior, and with waiting lists growing each year.  With the desire to really push to be the best team around, in 2011 the program was forced to become a selective process.  Players can try out throughout September, with selections made before the season starts in October.  It is unfortunate that we can not provide a basketball outlet for everyone, but and are looking to expand to open "pay to play" sessions.

Even if you feel you have missed the Trial dates, please contact us, and we may be able to offer a "Taster" session and discuss the future with you.  We can always add you to our email list for the following year.

Training Sessions are Mondays and Thursdays from 4:45pm through to 9pm, with around 1h15m per age group.
