Seahawks Ready for Opener as SABA Kicks Off

The Seahawks are ready to face Portsmouth Tres Barilles Predators tonight in their season opener. The Predators, known for their good outside shooting will be a tough test for the young Seahawks, but last year we had 2 great match ups with close loses in both fixtures, 64-72 away and 94-104 at home, with both scores flattering the Predators as we sent them to the line in the final minutes.

However, already the division looks to be a close contest. The Season opener saw Weymouth trounce the Nets, 76-29, with the Bandits travelling to us next week for their next fixture. The Nets (a new team) appear to be weak offensively, losing 68-30 to the Classics, a team we beat last year.

The Predators faced off against the Jam in their opener, with these 2 teams seemingly the strongest in the Division. Predators captain and coach, Hadje Pascual stole the ball with 3 seconds left and hit a go ahead layup, but early celebrations meant the Jam advanced the ball and stole the game on the buzzer by 1 point. Probably doesnt bode well for us as their enter our nest, angry and upset.

Southbourne then faced the Jam. Our local rivals have always been at the bottom of the table with us, for the last 2 seasons pipping us to the wooden spoon, by having a better point difference in 14-15, and getting an extra win in 15-16. However, this year they have kicked off by beating the Jam by 6 at home to spice it up.

The table below is missing the Predators/Jam result, which promotes Jam to no.1 spot, with 4 Pts, but a negative GD, and by virtue of having played 2 fixtures.
