And so the draw is made for the Solent Area Basketball Association (SABA) league. This is the premiere local league basketball for the Solent area, which runs from Portsmouth in the East to Weymouth in the West.
We start with 3 home games, facing the Tres Barilles Predators in week 2. (with our "bye" week in week one due to half term). The Predators will have gotten their campaign underway with a home fixture against the Jam, on the 28th Oct so may have shaken off a little more of the summer rust before tip off. Last year we had 2 great games vs the Predators, both winnable, but it was the experience of the Filipino team that paid off.
The following week we host the Weymouth Bandits, a team we beat convincingly in 2014-15 but sat out of last season to regroup.
Then we face the new Winchester Nets. We will not know what to expect at this stage, with them having split their Warriors team into 2 separate teams, but they will have had a busy schedule, already facing the Bandits, the Classics and Southbourne, before facing the Predators the night before meeting us.
Our first away game sees us travel to Portsmouth to face the Predators in the return fixture.
