BCS held its annual award ceremony for all the Sporting Academies, to honour those that have achieved across the board and excelled in their chosen sport.
For the Seahawks it saw the presentation of the season awards.
Most Valuable Player - Timo Schnabl & Hani Mazloum
It wasn't possible to split these two. With both having amazing scoring seasons, Timo with 14ppg and Hani 12ppg but it was their all round contribution that led to a John Stockton / Karl Malone moment of the coaching staff and Sports Director Richard H-P agreeing that without one another, they lacked their spark. They worked in harmony, running and gunning, and then pressing with amazing defence and were the backbone of the team for the entire season. Timo added this award to his 2104-15 MVP trophy, whilst Hani was also seriously considered for the Most Improved Player Award too.
Most Improved Player - Gabriel Angstwurm
Gave came back from the summer having honed his skills and was already a contender for the MIP award building on his previous year. He now was fighting for the starting Point Guard role with Rakhat and with continued work on his ball-handling and control of the game, soon became No1. His scoring also improved, going from single baskets in the opening games, to dropping 12 on Portsmouth Jam, and then 13 on Southbourne the following week. He now has also been elected as 2015-16 Team Captain.
Junior Player of the Year - Myles Rothenburg
Myles had an outstanding season and grew from strength to strength. His ball-handling is exceptional for someone his age and he was the only true candidate for the award. He continues to lead his team to easy wins at school level and brings massive enthusiasm to his peers. He also started to break into the senior team and added his first senior points to his tally against the Phoenix.
Congrats guys, it has been an honour to work with you.
