The Seahawks travelled to Portsmouth to face the Jam at Lord Admiral Nelson School. After a great offensive show against the Predators on Thursday, the Seahawks were ready to come out firing and know we could get a win.
And that's what we did, (even with very little warmup) we found we could move the ball with ease and find open looks. The rims were tighter than ... well a tight thing; And this made shooting difficult, but we worked and continued to find the bottom of the net. Defensively, our zone was working and we were pressing their weak handled guards. Luke was finding his range and had 9 by the end of one, including a corner 3. We were 21-13 up and strolling.
The second quarter saw the frustration grow. We continued to get great looks, but the ball wouldnt drop. Timo was having a particularly quiet one, running and gunning but finding it hard to score. However we also went to the line a few times and capatilised. But their offence was finding their range and using thier size against us, putting me into foul trouble and eventually taking the lead before the half, 36-40.
The third really hit us bad. Every look we had, the ball just rattled out. Wide open lay-ups, 5 ft jumpers, anything and everything was bouncing out. Hani was especially finding it hard, coming off a 30pt game, where everything went, today it just wasnt to be and he failed to score in open play in the second half, but added 6 from the line. Defensively we couldnt match thier size inside. They exploited our baseline and got solid looks. We soon found ourselves 10+ down and by the end of 3, it was 54-69.
In the forth, we still believed we could turn it around. We were the better side. We had them frustrated, picking up Technicals, and being warned numerous times and it could have easily boiled over against a team that has been warned by the league and had players banned. But again the frustration was our offence. We gave the ball away a few times, under a stronger PG press, but we continued to find looks and the ball wouldnt drop. We had the lead down to 11, but then they pulled away on a few fast breaks, breaking our press D, and it finished 67-88.
