Seahawks Undone By Southbourne Down The Stretch

Thurs Dec 10th.

The BCS Seahawks played their last game of the season before the Christmas break against the previously winless Southbourne Swamp Donkeys.

With a few players missing, due to niggling injuries or having left early for the break, it was chance for some of the younger players to get a chance to shine. Alex Zhong and Harry Warren stepped in to the line up for the first time.

We played a storming game, taking it to Southbourne and clearly getting them rattled. It was closer than we hoped for and had expected, but they had clearly boosted their roster since our previous encounter.

The third saw the introduction of the young guns. Zhong played great D and helped us shut out their shooters, and it was clear his confidence grew as he played. Harry then came on for a stint and again played above his years. He hustled and played with his common vigour. He ran on the break, always looking for the outlet, but unfortunately failed to capitilise on a break. They had done their part and played in the Seahawks' best section of play. We had turned the screw through the third and now we just had to hold them off in the forth.

Unfortunately a little run by Southbourne and some missed oppurtunities meant we let them back in the game and we had to play "stop the clock". They capitilised on their shots from the stripe and took the game, for their first win in a year.

It finished 60 -71.
