With this years scoring title leader, Dan Walker out, after a football injury to his knee, and myself out recoving from my elbow injury, we knew it would be a struggle. But the league table being tight through the middle with us having crucial games coming up, the guys were motivated to get a win.
Having gone down 3-14 in the opening minutes but lighting up to bring it back to 10-14 before the first ended 11-18 with baskets from Hani and Gabe, and a triple from Rakhat. In the second we continued the comeback and momentarily took the lead 21-20 from a layup from Timo, who had failed to score in the first but soon found his form. Hani made it 30-32 but the half ended 30-36. However, we now had the belief that this was a winnable game.
But it wasnt to be. We closed the gap a little from the line by Yousif, but soon 34-41 changed to 37-59 in the space of a few minutes and it was relatively over. Lack of solid defence and them playing the outlet pass and fast break offence sawa them stretch us. There was a flurry of a comeback, with 5 quick points from Timo, but then lay-ups just would not drop. They used their size and made it count. It went from 47-63 just after the start of the 4th to 47-74 in a turn of a head. A few extra traded baskets and it was all over.
It ended 54 - 82.
Shocking 3rd and 4th quarters saw the Seahawks drop a truly win-able game. All players were gutted and left us feeling empty as we let it slip by. Good performances from Timo, Hani, Rakhat and Gabe kept us in it but eventually missed oppurtunities and weak transition defence gave us one in the L column.
