The Phoenix Way too Strong for Seahawks

Monday 2nd November, the Seahawks travelled to Eastleigh to play The Phoenix. Having just returned from halfterm and players still a little sleepy, we had to get over our usual initial hump, and with missing Timo (leading scorer this year) offence was going to have to step up.

The first few minutes, we showed we could compete, with Rakhat coming out firing and keeping us in contention. Their bigmen where struggling to put the ball in and we kept it to 13-13 before our defence started to waiver. The first ended 23-15.

And that is about it. The second, they showed they experience and skill, with many former Div1 and Div2 players, they worked their offence and hit almost every 3 attempt. The Third was a similar story, with them stretching it to 99 - 41. But the forth we started to show some heart and our run and gun game got going and we added to out tally. It ended 133 - 56.

We were completely outclassed. But again for school aged kids, playing against basically a Div1 team we did ok. Our offence almost matched our scoring against the much weaker Classics, as our shots were dropping, it was just getting the opportunities to score against the strong defence that lacked.

Next up Winchester Warriors at Home on Thursday.

[Scorers: O Wood 15, R Kabdygaliyev 12, D Walker 10, G Angstwurm 7, H Mazloum 6, D Avery 3, I Safaee 2.]
