REPORT: Seahawks Turn it Around vs Classics

Wed, Jan 26th

We started so poorly. The lack of fire was apparent and we were letting them bully us underneath. This is, as discussed, not something we can easily coach. Players need to show up ready and buzzing to run. What we can teach is how to talk more and move the ball more and work our offence for better shots. Then our heads dropped, it was flat, and depressing. 25-9 after 1, 42-16 at the half.

And then the change in Defence spurred us. We could feel the fire burning now, and the guards were pressing up, and forcing weak passes to be picked off by our bigs. A recognition of the fact that no individual match up was too strong: shut your guy down and we're good. Offensively, we moved the ball better and attacked the basket better... but I believe that was because the D was doing its part. 20-12 in the 3rd. And again throughout the 4th, until the final minute where they grabbed 5 flukey points. 19*-12 in the 4th, but a winning 2nd half.

It showed what we can do, and what needs to happen from the opening tip, and in preparation way ... before that tip-off.

MVP for Rhys for solid, annoying defence as well as good assists. Only 4 points but showing its a team game.

[Scorers: Wood 9, Nupov 6, Strongman 6, Funganjera 5, Reeves 5, Midgley 5, Thomarel 4, Cherrett 4, Lee 3 ]
