Tues 3rd March
Last night the Seahawks travelled just down the road to St. Peters to face local rivals the Southbourne SwampDonkeys. We started off solid, shooting well and working the offence to find the holes in their zone D, and Yera blasting his way underneath the basket, however some 3's from the Donkeys kept them close for the first quarter which ended 22-16 to the Seahawks.
We came out strong in the 2nd getting stop after stop on the D and forcing shots from the Donkeys and held them to 11pts in the Q, most of which coming from the line. At our end we continued to run well and then play solid passing basketball to get open looks and lay-ups. Yera again dominating underneath, and Adam Walker playing a solid game and shooting well.
Throughout the 4 guards, Vito, Kelvin, Ray and Edison rotated through the game, and played brilliantly. Everyone taking turns to stop the Donkeys main threat, AD Niklas (#38) and working tirelessly in defence, and then running and moving the ball well at the other end. The 3rd Quarter was all Seahawks as we won it 16-8 to put us a 19 point lead, 54-38 with one to play.
The last quarter we struggled a little, as the game was already won, and we forced a little too much, and shots that had previously fallen, rolled out, but that's nothing to take away from the brilliant performance from everyone and getting the solid win to put us back into 4th in the league with Blackhawks, our next opposition, sitting a place above us in 3rd.
