After an almost 2hr drive it was inevitably a slow start, with a little weak on the defence and slow to react, and missed shots at the other end, Bridport jumped out to 11-0 lead before Yera got us started with an And-1. Bridport were shooting well, but we also had a few more calls against us sending them to the line and it was 13-25 after the first.
The second started well, Vito getting back-to-back And-1's and Benno adding a run and gun, to cut the lead to 5, 23-28, before we dried up again, forcing shots and missing the easier ones. Bridport were still shooting well, but also moving the ball better and finding the better looks, and they extended their lead back to 28-44 at the half.
The third was all Bridport, with loose turnovers and missed shots, they outscored us 26-8 in the quarter and the game had slipped away. However, as ever, we didn't just roll over and came back in the final period. Yera was still adding points, Benno grabbed another and Abner collected some more, before Shawn hit a nice 3 for us to win the quarter. 51-85 at the end.
On the night we didn't do anything majorly wrong, or majorly right. It was just one of those fixtures where we were outplayed. Bridport deserved it, but the score does flatter them.
[Scorers: Cheng 16, Aimaganbetov 13, Huber 6, Li 4, Wood 3, Krairit 3, Petrov 2, Walker 2, Wickens 2]
However, this does see Bridport Evolution cement their final place above us in the League standings, with a solid second half of the season. Elsewhere the New Milton Blackhawks managed to grab a win over Dorset Storm in a high scoring affair 71-62 on Sunday, which sees them tie us on league points, but go ahead of us on Points Differential +/-. This means our last fixtures, Seahawks @ Storm and Blackhawks @ Spartans, will decide who finishes bottom of the league!! We do not deserve to finish last!
