U14 With Easy Win to Start the Week
The U14's started the triple header week vs. Twynham school with a strong dominant performance. Led by Harry Midgley the Year 9 team showed their skill and understanding with a good, all round, team performance. Adam Dew and Louis Gomez showed their athletic ability and fitness with constantly pressuring defence which led to easy fast break baskets. The twins, Alex and James Tsang combined well, and shot well from the field, whilst Blake Colton and Ned Parkinson were strong and big underneath. Even in the last quarter with only 4 players (others left for the bus) we continued to show our strength. It ended 34-8.
U13's Outplayed by Twynhams Experience
The U13's were ready for their first match, but quickly got surprised by Twynham's skill on the ball and team play. What we lacked in passing and team-play was reflected in their opponents ability to move the ball. As soon as the score started to slip, heads went down and unfortunately effort from some stopped and immaturity showed. We played "junior" level basketball, trying to dribble around people, and making turnovers, pressing full court defensive (why?) and allowing easy lay-ups with passes over the top... unfortunately what we have been learning not to do! However, the ones who listened and built on the experience, stood out. Tristan learned from mistakes (and learned some of the rules) and came back stronger, adding a bunch of points in the final quarter and Marcel played well at both ends of the floor, putting in a bunch of effort to get up and down the floor.
It ended 10-28.
