Donkeys Too Big Inside for Weakened Seahawks

Writer: woodollywoodolly

The Seahawks travelled to St. Peters School to face the Southbourne Donkeys. Without a few major players, especially inside, due to school half term, we were majorly short, but knew with the right attitude we could compete.

However, the Donkeys have a massively bolstered lineup since previous years, with some big 6'8" centres and ex-Bournemouth Uni players.

However, we came out running and gunning and giving it our all. Chris Mills, suited up and controlled the game from the floor when he could. Vito was again using his speed to his advantage, and Edison got his first senior minutes at the PG too and opened his scoring account. Raul at only 13 got his first senior game but was forced against much bigger guys.

When I quickly dropped into foul trouble, we were left even shorter inside, and the Donkeys took advantage in the second. From 14-8 after one period, it was 40-14 at the break.

However, we continued to plug away and play good transition basketball, but the dusty court did not give us the speed advantage we are used to. Again inside we could do very little, but played the best we could. And a good positive showing. We know that with a full line up we can definitely compete against these guys, especially on our court.

It finished 69-36, but discarding the 2nd it was a much closer game.

{1st 8-14, 2nd 6-26, 3rd 9-13, 4th 13-16}

[Scorers: Cheng 10, Wood 9, Wickens 7, Li 7, Chen 2]
